WATERCOLOR

I work in watercolour and photography, exploring the subtle interplay between clarity and diffusion. In my watercolours, I let pigments drift across wet surfaces, creating forms that balance the precise with the unpredictable. I began with Nordic landscapes, but my focus has shifted toward portraying people, figures, and phenomena as I encounter them. These explorations often evolve into series, where I pursue a concept or experiment with techniques—such as repeating a single motif, zooming in on details like hands or legs, or magnifying insects to reveal their vivid colours and striking forms. A recurring theme in my work is the depiction of older women—“Morliller”—with whom I feel a deep personal connection. They appear in my art as Sea Witches or Women of Time, embodying a growing awareness of ageing and the passage of time.

In my photographic practice, I challenge the cultural invisibility of older women. While art history is rich with images of youth and beauty, portraits of ageing women remain rare. I focus my lens on the lines, folds, and textures that tell the story of a life lived—often met with modesty or discomfort. Our culture’s obsession with youth leads many to conceal these signs through makeup, surgery, or fillers. Yet it’s precisely these traces that reveal who we are and where we’ve been. My portraits aim to honour that truth.
